The Library and Instructional Technology Department is proud to offer a variety of facilities and services to meet our community's needs.

Library

The K-12 library contains a collection of over 17,000 catalogued items including books, magazines, music cds, videos and dvds. We subscribe to a variety of electronic encyclopedias and reference databases. The library has a classroom that is used by the teacher librarians and can be reserved by classroom teachers who want to use the wireless laptop lab it houses. There is a spacious computer area, a story room, a media lounge, and additional comfortable work and reading spaces.

Computer Classrooms

Middle & Lower School
The Middle/Lower School computer classroom is staffed by a full-time technology teacher and is available for regularly and periodically scheduled classes. Drop-ins are accommodated if space is available. The computer teacher gives individual or group instruction to staff in a variety of software applications upon request.

Upper School
The Wissner computer lab is open daily during school hours and is staffed by a full-time lab supervisor. The lab supervisor is available to schedule classes, supervise student use of the lab and provide technical support and instruction as needed. Click here for Upper School Lab information.

Technology and Audiovisual Equipment

Circulating audiovisual equipment is available for classroom and administrative use. The following items are available to be checked out by staff from the library:

  • Laptop computers
  • DVD players (some uncoded for playback of international dvds)
  • VCRs (some multi-system)
  • Document Cameras
  • Data projectors
  • Digital still cameras
  • Video cameras
  • Cassette/cd players/Ipods/Olympus Recorders
  • Listening centers with multiple headphone jacks and cassette recording capability
  • Public address system with wireless microphone
  • Slide projectors with carousels
  • Overhead projectors

In general this equipment is not available to be checked out by students. However, this practice depends on circumstances such as the age of the student or the value of the equipment. Equipment that has peripheral pieces comes with a checklist of peripherals in order that the borrower can make sure s/he receives and returns everything.

The library maintains an inventory of all audiovisual equipment on campus. If audiovisual equipment is needed in a classroom or other location on a permanent basis, the library staff will order what is needed, add the equipment to the inventory, then have it delivered to its permanent location. See the library staff for further information.

Requests for technology support should be submitted by email to help@bush.edu with a brief explanation of the problem in the body of the email.

Special Events

The library/technology staff works in conjunction with the facilities staff to set up equipment for special events. At the time a request for set-up is turned into facilities, the sponsor of the event should contact the library (x7753 or email library@bush.edu ) to reserve equipment and discuss support needs. Because equipment is in high demand at certain times of the year, it is wise to remember that the early bird gets the projector.
